Use With Sika MB Primer
MB Primer is a simple to use two-part primer to apply to a clean dry concrete pad.
This is the ideal way to install a timber floor with 1 coat of MB Primer and the T55 adhesive
over the top.
To seal concrete for a solid timber floor you must use a sealer made by the same manufacturer as the adhesive. SIKA MB Primer has excellent properties as a concrete sealer and is highly recommended. It is widely used throughout Australia.
Sika Adhesives are the products of choice for most timber flooring installation. The reason for this is that the adhesive system is a proven reliable system. Many tens of thousands of square meters of timber flooring have been successfully and permanently installed using Sika.
Of particular note when using Sika products is that the system incorporates a genuine long-term moisture resistant coating on the floor. In this regard we consider the system to be unique. Over the years a number of temporary fast drying moisture primers have been chosen by some for use under timber floors that these products cannot achieve the long-term effectiveness of MB primer. When you use a two pack epoxy coating you have to come back to the floor 18hours later after the product is cured and then you can start laying your floor. Some feel that this is having to wait too long and so go for a very simple short-term primer. The products are very different and we would always recommend using a systems approach to laying a timber floor. Sika MB primer and T 55 are a remarkable proven system.
