Osmo oil tints are a brilliant way to re-colour timber to suit a specific idea or look that you are trying to achieve. It uniquely combines the advantages of natural oils and waxes in a single product. It’s ideal for the protection and decorative staining of all wooden floors, including solid planks, plank strip, raw engineered, and other surfaces. For best effect, it’s recommended for light-coloured wood species and wood facias. It has been used very successfully on solid timber and on plywood faces.

It is a simple application with no primer or sanding between coats needed. It’s entirely based on natural oils and waxes, and it works perfectly on wood where its microporous surface will not crack, peel, flake, or blister. It has been tested with all household food items and been demonstrated to be resistant to their penetration. It is easy to maintain with Osmo wash and care, liquid wax cleaner, or maintenance oil.

The coverage of Polyx oil tints is approximately 30 square metres per litre with one coat. Two coats, total application. And if you’ve already achieved the colour with a single coat, then there’s no need to apply another coat of colour. Simply apply a clear coat of Polyx oil over the surface. We recommend application with a good quality brush, a small nap roller, or a lint-free cloth. Or use the Easy Osmo pad, the Osmo Easy pad, to apply the product.

Drying time is approximately 24 hours, and there is no need to sand between coats. If the conditions are very cool, it can take longer. Within average Australian conditions of 23 degrees Celsius and 50% relative humidity, it will dry within 24 hours. For dense hardwood, we recommend sanding to 80 grit with a single disc machine so that you do not close the grain down completely. And then apply the Polyx oil. For resinous timbers, it’s always good to consider whether to use wood wax extra thin.
