The interesting thing is that these plastic decks are generally made to look like timber which confirms that people recognize that the natural look of timber is the target. The challenge in Western Australia is that we have very high ultraviolet light levels and these very high ultraviolet light levels can cause timber to grey off quite quickly. Naturally, this will create work if the wrong product is used and even if the right product is used you should expect some degree of maintenance. The trick is to try to use a product that will feed the timber and provide a degree of ultraviolet protection. The first thing to avoid is a film forming coating because a film forming coating will create a plastic-like finish that can flake and peel.
